Hartz flea collars are dangerous for cats

My vet has warned me, and I want to warn all other cat owners. Hartz flea collars are dangerous for cats, they can cause bad skin irritation and even poisoning if the cat starts chewing on it. Pets died because of these collars. They will be taken off the market, according to my vet.

I have used them on my cats; thankfully, there were no bad side effects, but they didn't help to get rid of fleas, either. I used Advantage, and that's what solved the flea problem for us.

The only thing I use flea collars for is to put them under furniture and our bed to kill any fleas that may be lurking in places not easily reached by a vacuum. I have heard too that they are dangerous, and it really does seem pointless to use something that is only going to work in a small, concentrated area around the head.

That's a good way to use them. I would make sure that the pets can't easily reach those collars and start chewing on them.
