| Have you found that your pet is overprotective of babies? When there is a baby in our house, my dog will be right by the babys side all day. Then if the baby starts to cry when someone is holding her, my dog freaks, like they are hurting the baby. | |

| My mom's Rat Jack Russell Terrier was like that with my daughter after she was born. When I would place her in the floor she would lay next to her and let my daughter pull on her ears, and if anyone walked in the room Missy (the dog) would walk circles around my baby to protect her. It was so precious! | |

| I do not have any babies in my house right now, but my dog is very protective of my 12 year old daughter. | |

| I heard of a family cat biting a mother who was bathing her baby.
I assume the baby was making noises that the cat thought was threatening.

I assume the baby was making noises that the cat thought was threatening. I could be that the cat thought water was a really bad idea, too! Sometimes they project their fears just as humans do.

| My dog is protective of all kids he come in contact with. He loves them and is very watchful over them. I almost believe that he could babysit for someone. I can tell that he loves children. No matter what they do to him he seems to smile and is happy just being with them. | |

| There is no doubt at all in my mind that our cat loves the kids. She follows my eldest daughter everywhere.
I think it is in a pets instict to protect those they love, as it is in humans.

| I have heard this before and I think it is amazing, I have never had a dog around a baby, I always fear the worse but from hearing stories from dog owners it seems to be the opposite. | |
