Horse Whisperers? Empty
PostSubject: Horse Whisperers?   Horse Whisperers? Icon_minitimeMon Dec 08, 2008 6:13 pm

Do you think that there are people out there who can really talk to and understand animals? I know of horse whisperers and I've heard of dog whisperers but are they for real or are they scamming everyone? What do you think? Is there a way for a person to know what an animal and pet are really thinking? I'm not sure.

I suppose so. You can read a lot into an animals body language to know just what they need or want.

I don't know that it isn't just the lack of force employed in training that makes the difference.

With horses, most "western" techniques involved forcing and dominating the horse, where more native cultures trained a horse gradually or with less force, in many cases.

I imagine that one would come to "feel" an animal's reactions if attention isn't diverted to the effort involved with force. It appears as magic, but it is actually patience.

I am a little bit dubious about it all, though I suppose anything could be posssible.

I am having a hard time believing that anyone could actually talk to animals. If an animal is unhappy or stressesd, you can usually see this in their patterns of behaviour, and these patterns can be changed with a little guidance.
