One of the more important things to know when having more than one species of fish in one aquarium is knowing which kind eats other fishes. I've heard lots of sad and funny stories about vanishing fishes which turn to have been eaten by their aquarium-mates.

We should start a list about that. I am not too familar with fish, but I do know with salt water fish especially you can only have certain kinds together in one tank. I am sure their are many books about just this very thing.

Oh no, that would be terrible to find out that one of your fishies has eaten the rest! I do not know much about fish species, so I would certainly ask a lot of questions at the pet store before buying any.

When we go to buy a new fish, we always make sure that it will be fine with the fish we already have. Once the pet store guy was wrong and my daughter was so upset when her new fish had disappeared.

It is really important to know the facts beforehand before keeping an aquarium. I always differentiate fishes based upon their size and age, in that way I could reduce such bad incidences.

My step dad kept tropical fish. One day he went out and bought quite a few little brightly coloured fish but they were gone as soon as they entered the tank. Gleefully devoured by the meaner looking fish!!!

I've never had that happen, but how awful! I'll have to read up on fish before I try to get another one. study

in my experience, you should always as the pet shop attendant which is best to be mixed with. never start out an aquarium without any knowledge of mixing species of fish.

guppys an goldfishes are not really great to mix. the guppy's, even with their smaller size bullies the goldfishes thrice their size. In time, it eats their fins and die eventually.
