| How do you deal with a dog that is overly excited upon your return home? How can you let them know its ok to be excited but that its not ok to knock everything over and be totally crazy?! | |

| I have always been told that the best course of action in this situation is to not pay any attention to them or even look at them when you come home (or the same goes for anyone else as well) for at least several minutes. After a little time this should teach the dog that they will get attention but not right when you arrive home which should alleviate some of their excitability. | |

| I think the reason this tip works is because you let the dog know that you are in control. You will greet them and show them attention when YOU want it, not when they demand it. Dogs are pack animals, and they either respect you as the pack leader or try to become one. | |
